Introduction
Guiding Questions: Who was here before us? How old is this land? What are the native animals to this land? What are the population trends of South Florida over the years? What attracted people to populate South Florida? When was South Florida discovered?
Learning goal: Students will be able to recognize and explain events of South Florida before our population of the state.
Task
Students in a group will create either a powerpoint, song, poster, or children's book answering the guided questions and learning goals.
Process
Powerpoint: Minimum of 10 slides with a picture on each slide. Every group member must present at least 2 slides
Song: Song must be at least a minute long. Not every student has to sing but each student has to contribute to the lyrics. Can get an instrumental from youtube and convert it into a file with this link youtubemp3free.com
Poster: The poster may be at least 24inx24in and must have color on it. You have to explain the meaning of each item on the poster.
Children's book: Meant for ages 6-11. Must be 8 or more pages long and colored.

Conclusion
This Activity will have students engage in learning the history of South Florida as well as collaborating with their peers.
