Grocery Shopping

Introduction

Grab your wallet, make a list, and let's go grocery shopping! Be ready to stroll the aisles while throwing items into your shopping cart, however, make sure to check the price. We are balling on a budget!

Task

In this WebQuest, you are going to create a grocery list of items that you will need for the week. You will also be working with a $40 budget, which we have learned is a set amount of money allotted for something specific, in this case, groceries that we can not go over. Are you ready?

Process

1. Think about things you like to eat and how much you will eat in a week's worth of time. Most people eat 3 meals a day and sometimes snacks in between. Don't forget you will need a drink to go with those meals, you will need to stay hydrated. Now create a list of potential items you might like to get at the store.

2. Pick a grocery store you would like to go to for this shopping adventure. Links provided to popular grocery stores below.

3. Look up all the items you placed on your list and decide if you want to buy them. If you want to buy them, click add to cart until you are done shopping. While selecting items to purchase, make sure to check the prices and compare brands for potentially cheaper choices. I would also use a calculator to add the items you select so you don't go over budget.

4. Once you have added all you want to your cart, check your total to ensure you did not go over your budget of $40. If you went over $40 you will have to unadd items from your cart until you are under $40.

5. Turn in the paper copy of your original grocery list and then take a screenshot of your cart, making sure to show the total, and email it to me. To screenshot, hit the Windows key and PrtSc key at the same time, and draw to create a box around what you want to screenshot.

Evaluation

Think back on your original grocery list and compare it to the items you actually bought. Write a few sentences about the comparison and what you learned from this WebQuest.

Potential Questions to Answer:

-Was the budget hard to maintain?

-Do you believe you purchased enough items to eat on for a week?

-Did you have to put items back? If so, what?

-Did you like the process of grocery shopping?

You can either type your sentences and email them to me or write them and physically turn them in.

Conclusion

Grocery shopping is extremely important and something we could not live without. We all must have food and water to survive, so learning how to properly grocery shop with a given budget is essential for independent living. Remember what you learned from this WebQuest and try to think about it next time you are grocery shopping with your parents.
