Introduction
If given the chance, would you like to travel to a very far country with your classmates? An alumnus of our school have donated money to finance this travel and all members of this class can go, including four teachers, if you can create a travel brochure and a PowerPoint presentation about this country that is educational, creative, and informative. The country that you will travel to is called the Philippines.
Each student will play a vital role in putting together these two educational projects about the Philippines. You will present your findings in the form of a travel brochure and a PowerPoint presentation to the donor, your principal, parents, teachers, classmates and to anybody who is interested in knowing what the Philippines is all about.
The success of this project lies in the contribution of each student. Remember that you must work together to make this project a success.
Task
The expected results of your work as a team is to create an educational, informative, effective and creative PowerPoint Presentation and a travel brochure showcasing your research on the Philippines. You are expected to conduct online research and library research. However, your research will not be limited to online and library researches, rather you are encouraged to conduct interviews with people that can provide you with information and other resources to enhance your work. You can use all available publishing tools such as clip art, word art, scanned or digital photos, various fonts and type, while designing a clear and visually appealing layout. As previously mentioned, you will be divided into teams of four or five students. You will find detailed description of the role each team will play in the Process Page of this webquest.
You will work with each other in deciding which materials that you have collected will be included in the PowerPoint and in the travel brochure. You will exercise your judgement in choosing materials that will make your project educational, informative and visually appealing. You will present your finished projects to the donor, your principal, your teachers and your classmates.
You are also expected to collaborate with your teacher in evaluating your PowerPoint Presentation and the finished travel brochure. You and your teacher will decide how your finished project will be graded or evaluated.
Process
The class will be divided into several teams of four or five students. Each team will be assigned different tasks. The tasks would require collaboration between members of a team. They are also expected to use their own judgment in choosing the materials that they have collected and completed based on corresponding researches.
Each member of a team is expected to work hard to ensure success of the assigned task/s. The research work is not limited to online (Internet) research and library research. Any member of a team can conduct an interview to get a firsthand information about certain facts about the Philippines.
