Introduction
Today we are going to learn how the body's smallest and largest parts work together. Let's brainstorm what we know about the human body. You will discover: how similar cells form structures, how organs carry out life processes, how organs and organ systems work together, and how the human body defends itself against disease.
Task
Your task will be to learn what the skeletal and muscular systems are. You will be placed into four groups where your task will be to research the websites listed and create a chart or presentation to teach the class about the systems of the human body. Group one will learn about the skeletal and muscular systems.Group two will learn about the respiratory and circulatory systems. Group three will learn about the digestive and nervous systems. Group four will learn about how the body defends itself. Each group will have a recorder, a reader, an illustrator, and a timekeeper. You will have two 60 minute periods to research your sites and complete your presentation for the class. Websites are listed on the attached worksheet as well as on the teacher page under resources.
Process
1. The teacher will divide the class into four groups. The students will be given a list of websites to research their topic.
2. The groups will be given chart paper, colored markers, pencils, and paper for notetaking.
3. Each group will receive a laptop to research their assigned sites. The teacher will set the timer for groups to begin.
4. Groups will work together to answer questions on their worksheet given to them by the teacher.
5. On day two, the groups will use the information on their worksheets to create a chart/presentation to share with the class. They can create a web, illustrate, or list details about their topic.
6. On day three groups will present to the class about their topic. The class will take notes on a worksheet divided into the four topics
Evaluation
EVALUATION-
The students will work cooperatively to complete a clear group presentation. They will identify and answers the assigned questions. Students should received a score of 80% to be considered proficient on this assessment.
| # | Score | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The students will work together to complete the assigned project. | While working on their project the group cooperated all the time. | While working on their project the group cooperated most of the time. | While working on their project the group cooperated some of the time. | While working on their project, the group did not cooperate at all. | |
| Identify and answer assigned questions. | The group answered all questions correctly. | The group answered 4 out of 5 questions correctly. | The group answered 3 out of 5 questions correctly. | The group answered 2 or less questions correctly. | |
| The group created a presentation that was clear and easy to understand. | The groups presentation was very clear and easy to understand. | The groups presentation was somewhat clear and easy to understand. | The groups presentation was not clear and wasn't easy to understand. | The groups presentation was not complete. |
Conclusion
CONCLUSION:
After completing this webquest, the students will understand the functions of various body systems. They will understand that living things are composed of cells and that processes needed for life are carried out by the cells.
