Introduction
Discover the Magic of Your Sense Organs
Imagine waking up to the bright sunshine, hearing birds chirp, smelling delicious breakfast, tasting your favorite food, and feeling the soft pillow under your head. How do you experience all of this? That’s the magic of your five sense organs the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin! These super cool body parts help you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel everything around you. Without them, life would be dull! So, let’s dive into the amazing world of sense organs and discover how they make our everyday lives exciting and fun!
The five sense organs consist of the eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and skin. Each sense organ has unique cells which are called sensory receptors that respond to a particular type of stimulus throughout the body. For example, the eyes has sensory receptors that respond to certain chemicals within the body which allows us the ability to see. Sensory receptors send nerve impulses to the sensory nerves which are special nerves in the body that carry nerve impulses to the central nervous system. Our brain then interprets the nerve impulses to form a response.
Task
To complete the task students are asked to research the following:
1) Research the definition of sensory organs.
2) Research the function of each sense organ:
Eyes
Nose
Mouth
Skin
Ears
3) The importance of taking care of our sense organs.
Process
Main Objectives:
1) Students will visit selective websites for information and will watch educational videos.
2) Conduct research and gather the necessary information to complete the assigned tasks.
Step 1: Students are asked to gather information from the following websites and discuss it with their groups to complete the assigned tasks.
The following websites include:
or

Step 2: Students are asked to watch the following videos and take notes.
Evaluation
Students understanding will be assessed by completing the following tasks:
Complete a worksheet from the following website:
https://www.liveworksheets.com/w/en/natural-science/251773
Draw and state the function of three sense organs.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You have successfully completed the Sense Organs WebQuest. You now have a deeper understanding of the amazing world of sense organs and how they help us interact with the world.

Topic: The Five Sense Organs
Objectives:
Students will understand the functions and importance of the five sense organs (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin) and how they help us interact with the world.
-
Identify and name all the five sense organs effectively after conducting research.
-
Describe the functions of the five sense organs successfully after engaging with online videos.
National Curriculum Standards:
This WebQuest correlates with the National Curriculum for grade 4 Science for accuracy of information.
The teacher will do:
The teacher will act as a supportive guide, providing assistance and guidance to students as needed, while also monitoring their progress to ensure timely completion and accuracy of their research findings.
Evaluation:
Students will be assessed by completing an online worksheet about sense organs. Secondly, students are asked to draw at least three sense organs and state their primary function. The teacher will provide any necessary feedback, for further correction and additional clarification.
Extended Assignment:
In small groups of 3-4 members, students are asked to create a model or diagram of the sense organ of their choice and
write a short story or poem about the selected sense organ.
