Unit 3 - Choices: Notes from a big country

Introduction

IES N° 4 Introductory Course

Unit 3 coursebook "Insight Pre-intermediate Student's book and and Workbook by Wildam J. and Beddal F. 2014 - Oxford University Press.

Food is one of the most important aspects of any culture. Although Argentina's food is a mixture of different cultures, there are some products that cannot be found anywhere else. The same happens in every country, especially in the US when it comes to junk food.

Read the text "Junk Food Heaven" on page 36 and 37 respectively. Then reflect on these questions in pairs:

  1. If you could only eat junk food or healthy food, which would you choose and why?
  2. Why do most people prefer junk food?

Task

The task will be divided in three parts:

  1. In pairs, practice reading the dialogue from the text to perfom in class. Then answer:
    • Have you ever had a similar experience?
    • How do you usually deal with disagreements?
  2. Create a dialogue (no more than 3 minutes) in pairs. Use the context below.

You are a couple who go to the supermarket "Comodín" to do their monthly shopping. You two have a different taste in food and are trying to reach an agreement.

     3. Prepare your scenography: use costumes, props, and music if possible, to perform your dialogue in class.

Conclusion

In our everyday lives, we frequently find ourselves in situations where our opinions differ from those of others. While we have the freedom to choose how we react to these situations, it is important to consider the impact of our actions.
