History of literature genres

Introduction

Welcome to the History of literature genres WebQuest!! In this project you will be going on an adventure learning about your favorite genre of reading and all of the notable events that has happened in its history up to modern day!!

Your mission for today is a very serious one. You will be tasked with creating a project that goes over the history of your genre and make sure to include any information that could help with constructing its history such as famous authors or possible events in history like book bans or other such notable things that either had a positive or negative effect on the genre. the end products appearance is totally in your hands all you need to do is ensure that it is acceptable for your teacher and that they will be able to grade it appropriately.

Task

For this WebQuest you will:

1.choose a genre of books you enjoy

2. you will research its history and any notable books in that genre

3.you will create a presentation in a form that you find enjoyable but also acceptable for your teacher (i.e. a PowerPoint, an essay, or a video presentation if you are too nervous to present to the class)

4. you will present your findings to the class and turn the project into your teacher

Process

Step 1: choose your Genre

  • choose what genre you wish to research
  • Describe your reason for picking this genre
  • Explain what you already know about this genre

Step 2: Research your genre

  • find reputable sources for your genre such as a database or a reputable website
  • Learn about the origin of your genre and any notable events
  • Make sure to discuss a few notable entries into your genre

Step 3: accessible information on topic

  • find the proper information within your sources about the genre you are researching

Step 4:  information extraction

  • engage with the sources you found to fully understand them (if you found a book to talk about make sure to fully read the book so you understand the topic you are discussing, or fully read an article about your genre instead of skimming it for info.
  • extract the info you need from your sources and put them into your own words while also giving them proper credit in the citations.

Step 5: Create your final product

  • You are free to choose the final products appearance for your project, but it needs to be approved by the teacher with the following guidelines
  • Word document essay: Minimum of two pages, 12-point times new roman font, double spaced
  • Video presentation: Minimum of five-minute discussion.
  • Power point presentation: minimum of 15 slides containing information and examples of your genre

  • Does this product line up with the rubric's requirements?
  • did you follow the correct process?

Evaluation

Your work will be graded on:

1. accuracy of the information you have gathered

2.Depth of your research

3. The length of your project

4.whether you cited your sources correctly using Apa formatting

5. The organization of your end product for this project, is it clean and easy to understand?

Congratulations on completing your history of literature genres WebQuest!! I hope you had a lot of fun designing your presentation and were able to discover new and interesting topics about your genre that deepened your interest in it and helped find new books to read in that genre!! Learning about new insights into a genre of literature can help you in many facets of life such as helping keep an interest in reading which will ensure that you're literacy abilities stay sharp or could also be helpful if you are ever wanting to get into the profession of being an author as a deep understanding of your genre will allow your books to read more naturally for the audience.
