Introduction

Welcome to the "World Food Safety Day" WebQuest! Celebrated annually on June 7th, World Food Safety Day aims to raise awareness about food safety and inspire action to prevent foodborne risks. This year’s theme focuses on safe food practices, ensuring food security and promoting healthy eating.

 

Task

By completing this WebQuest, students will:

  1. Investigate essential food safety principles by analysing reliable scientific sources and identifying key factors that prevent foodborne illnesses.

  2. Design an interactive quiz using digital tools, applying their understanding of safe food practices.

  3. Evaluate on food safety knowledge by sharing quizzes, reviewing peer contributions, and discussing correct practices in real-life contexts.

Step 2: Learn Key Food Safety Principles

Gather essential information on topics such as safe cooking temperatures, prevention of cross-contamination, proper food storage, personal hygiene in food handling etc. Keep notes about the most important facts to use in the next step.

 

Step 3: Create Your Collaborative Food Safety Quiz

Use the web2.0 tools Kahoot! or Quizizz, to design an interactive quiz that tests knowledge of food safety. Share your questions and the quiz link to the Padlet https://padlet.com/meddiet4health/7-6-celebrating-the-world-food-safety-day-6qojdfwll0355g7  to test your peers knowledge in the classroom. 

 

Step 4: Share the results

Don't forget to upload the podium of your quiz in the same Padlet. Discuss in the classrooom  correct practices in real-life contexts about food safety.

They developed research and critical-thinking skills while selecting reliable information and turning it into accurate quiz questions. By creating their own quiz with web2.0 tools, they enhanced their digital and assessment skills.
