Osteichthyes

Introduction

For this assignment, you will create a Google Slides presentation on the topic of Osteichthyes (bony fishes). The presentation will be structured as a Web Quest, there are specific directions for each assignment. READ CAREFULLY YOU ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU DO NOT READ. The point of the web quest is to encourage you to read!

Objectives:

Complete the Web Quest on time, following the directions for each slide.

Write an essay comparing and contrasting Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous fishes) and Osteichthyes.

(This essay will be a test grade)

Instructions:

1.Create a new Google Slides presentation and title it "Osteichthyes Web Quest".

2.Add a title slide with your name.

3.Proceed to create the Web Quest slides, following the directions provided for each one.

4.Do not get behind. Complete all assignments on time.

5. All assignments are Due Friday Oct. 25th.

Task

Osteichthyes, commonly known as bony fish, represent the largest class of vertebrates on our planet. This diverse group of aquatic creatures vastly outnumbers the combined populations of dogs, cats, humans, lions, tigers, and bears.

• Unlike the Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous fish) whose endoskeletons are made entirely of cartilage, the Osteichthyes are distinguished by their bony skeletons. To better understand the key differences between bone and cartilage, you can refer to the purple chart titled "Differences Between Bone and Cartilage" on the next page.

As we delve deeper into the world of vertebrates, the Osteichthyes class will be the focus of our next discussion. This comprehensive exploration will provide valuable insights into these remarkable bony fish's remarkable adaptations and evolutionary success.
