Introduction
Hi, Howdy, Hello!
Over the past few weeks we have been reading Krik? Krak! by Edwidge Danticat. This WebQuest will have the aim of deepening and testing your understanding of these passages. As you make your way through this activity, attempt to make connections to Krik? Krak! Below is the CHAMPS breakdown for this assignment, please read it thoroughly before moving on.
Conversation should be minimal for the solo assignment. Keep any conversation to a low volume and short. In the second part of this assignment you will be working with your learning group and conversations may be longer but should not exceed that same low volume so as not to disturb the other teams.
Help should come first from your learning team. After attempting to illicit help from at least two members team, you may raise your hand and I will approach your desk to assist.
Activities within this WebQuest will be further explained in the Task and Process sections below. You will be expected to explore the provided links and use the information found there to complete the group assignment with your learning team.
Movement should be kept to emergencies. You should not be moving between teams, remember to seek assistance within your own group followed by me, NOT other teams. If, for any non-emergency reason, you need to leave your desk please raise your hand for permission first.
Participation in the first part of this WebQuest will take the form of silently navigating the provided links. You may find it useful to take notes on the connections you find to your assigned passage (Assignments found at the top of the Task section)
Success in this assignment will be found in completing both the poetry analysis sheet and the assigned questions. The grading criteria for these assessments can be found in the Evaluation section.
Task
Each learning team will be in charge of handling a different passage from Krik? Krak! and using the links provided in the Process section as well as any additional sources you may find to complete the provided worksheet on In the Castle of My Skin by George Lamming and a series of questions on the effect the additional context provided had on their understanding of their assigned passage. The research portion of this assignment should be conducted individually, with the worksheet and questions being completed and turned in as a group.
