ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING

Introduction

The world of education is rapidly evolving, and technology is at the forefront of this transformation. This webquest will guide you on a journey to explore the diverse and powerful roles technology plays in both teaching and learning. We'll delve into the three key domains of educational technology, uncovering how technology empowers educators and enhances the learning experience for students of all ages.

Task

You will be working in groups to investigate the role of technology in education. Each group will focus on one of the three domains of educational technology:

- Group 1: Technology as a Tutor

- Group 2: Technology as a Teaching Tool

- Group 3: Technology as a Learning Tool

Process

1. Each group will use the internet to research their assigned domain. Look for examples of how technology is used in this way, and consider the benefits and challenges of using technology in this role.

2.  Once you have gathered information, discuss your findings as a group. Identify the key features and advantages of your assigned domain.

3.  Prepare a short presentation to share with the class. Your presentation should include:

- A clear explanation of your domain.

- Specific examples of how technology is used in this role (include links to websites, apps, or videos).

- A discussion of the benefits and challenges of using technology in this way.

- Recommendations for using technology effectively and ethically in your domain.

4.  Present your findings to the class. Listen carefully to the presentations of other groups and be prepared to ask questions.

5. After all groups have presented, reflect on the overall role of technology in teaching and learning. Consider the following questions:

- How has technology changed the way we teach and learn?

- What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of using technology in education?

- How can we use technology effectively and ethically in the classroom?

- What are the future trends in using technology for teaching and learning?
