Introduction

In this WebQuest, you shall learn about the various Germanic (Saxon) languages around Europe, as well as their history and how they came to be in their current geographical region.

Task

You will have to identify:

- a few steps in the evolution of the current English language from a linked video

- note the main countries in Europe where the Germanic languages are spoken

-compare 3 words in their English, German and Dutch forms

- note 2 former European colonies with Germanic languages

Conclusion

To conclude, Germanic languages are extremely important and have played a big part in European history. They have an extremely rich evolution process and are used in international settings today (see English and German).
