Teacher Introduction
As part of our second grade language arts unit, our class read the book Dear Mr. Blueberry by Simon James. Emily wrote letters to Mr. Blueberry about finding a whale in her backyard. Mr. Blueberry wrote back to Emily and explained all about whales and why she could not have a whale in her backyard.
This WebQuest is designed to be an extension activity where the students get to be Mr. Blueberry's assistant and help him answer more letters from confused students. They will research an animal that they have chosen. Then they will need to process that information to figure out how to write a letter from a student that confuses the real facts. Mr. Blueberry's assistant has the job of writing back to correct these wrong ideas.
