The many ways to memorize a unit circle

Introduction

Given any positive or negative angle measure in degrees or radians, identify its corresponding angle measure between 0° and 360° or between 0 and 2π. Convert between degrees and radians.

Task

There is a saying that says "There is more than one way to skin a cat".

The point of this project is to help your classmates and yourself memorize the unit circle. The unit circle can be intimidating and hard to memorize at first glance.  For this project, students will work in groups to devise a clever way to memorize each part of the unit circle.

Process

Each group will be given a specific part of the unit circle to work on, such as quadrant, degree, formula, radian, etc. It is the group's job to devise a clever method to memorize each formula. If the students use songs to memorize formulas that song or method used needs to be presented to the class. Students can use a PowerPoint presentation, a video,  or project boards, whichever way will help the student. When presenting, each group needs to hand out a blank unit circle for peers to fill out as each group presents their project. Once you have presented your project, you will be tested on your assigned part.

Evaluation
  1. Print out the unit circle for peers                                                                                                                                              20 points
  2. Presentation, being able to explain and answer peers questions                                                                                          40 points
  3. Test on your unit circle part                                                                                                                                                    40 points

                                                                                Total = 100 points

Conclusion

The whole point of this activity is to help each student find a way to helps them with a creative way to memorize such an intimidating formula that is the basic foundation for pre-calculous and calculous.
