World Food Day is observed on October 16 every year to promote global awareness for those who suffer from hunger and to ensure healthy diets for all. The 2024 annual theme “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future” highlights the urgent need to make food systems more equitable and accessible.
Everyone, everywhere, has the right to access safe, nutritious and culturally appropriate food. Yet, millions of people are still denied this basic human right. Governments, communities, schools, individuals need to work together to create sustainable food systems that leave no one behind. Empowering local farmers, reducing food waste and making informed food choices are just a few steps we can take to protect this right and secure a healthier, future for all.

Step 1: Watch a video
Watch the following introductory video, think about the challenges mentioned there and compare them to what you see in your own country or region.
