Introduction
Introduction
This project will involve Grade 10 students reading "One of Us is Lying" by Karen M. McManus and identifying key characters in the film. In addition to identifying the key characters in the book, students will also analyze the specific traits portrayed by the characters. This will be crucial to analyzing specific character traits and determining how such traits affect the behaviors of certain personalities in the book.
Task
1. Students will first read the book by themselves.
2. We will collectively read the book in the class, analyzing major characters and their possible traits.
3. Students will then form small groups where they will discuss different characters and traits to enhance peer understanding.
Process
1. In their respective groups, students will discuss their favorite characters and the traits they portray.
2. Students will enact the character's roles for improved understanding.
3. The teacher will then ask questions based on the characters in the book, and students will respond in groups.
Evaluation
1. Students will be provided with written questions about specific traits of different characters in the book.
2. They will be required to individually respond to the questions without consulting their books or group members.
3. The teacher will mark the exercise and return the sheets to the students for discussion.
Conclusion
This project will conclude with a collaborative discussion between the teacher and the students to positively identify different characters and their traits in the book.
At the end of the project, all students will understand how to analyze characters in books using their traits and describe such traits using specific terminologies.
