Task

Task 1: Sorting Ones Location: Blast Off Challenge: In this online interactive game, you'll see meteors with numbers on them. Your job is to put these numbers in order from smallest to biggest. Look closely and use what you know about the ones place value to solve this puzzle. Keep blasting off until you have ordered all of the numbers. Write down in your maths how many rocks you have collected. The more rocks you collect the more points your collect! AC9M3N01 AC9M3N03

Task 2: Counting Tens Location: Tens Tower Challenge: At Tens Tower, there are groups of sticks that stand for tens. Count them carefully and figure out what number they represent. Use your understanding of tens to crack this challenge. This challenge will be done in class with popsicle sticks. You will be required to write the answers down in your maths book. AC9M3N01 AC9M3N03

Task 3: Hundreds Hideout Challenge: Deep in the classroom, you'll find chests with numbers on them. These numbers are in the hundreds. Your task is to figure out which chest has the smallest number, and which has the biggest. In your maths book you will need to write all the numbers down in the correct order to unlock the chests! AC9M3N01 AC9M3N03

Task 4: Sorting Thousands: In this online game you will be tested of your knowledge of place value up in the thousands. Your job is to read each number and sort the numbers according to smallest to largest. Use your knowledge of thousands to succeed. AC9M3N01 AC9M3N03

Task 5: Monster Quiz!: Place Value Challenge: As a class you'll face off against each other, you'll face tricky puzzles of all Place Value questions to try and score the most on the quiz! These puzzles will test everything you've learned about place value. Make sure to write down your quiz results in your maths book! AC9M3N01 AC9M3N03

Each task is made to help you understand place value better. By completing them, you'll become a true master of numbers!

Process

TASK 1 - BLAST OFF CHALLENGE!

  1. Understand the Objective: Before starting the game, make sure you understand the objective clearly. You need to sort numbers on meteors from smallest to biggest based on their ones place value.

  2. Launch the Game: Begin by launching the online interactive game: Numerical Order | Putting Numbers in Order • ABCya!

  3. Read the Instructions: Pay close attention to any instructions or guidelines provided at the beginning of the game. Understand how to interact with the meteors and how to proceed with sorting the numbers.

  4. Start Sorting: Once you're familiar with the game mechanics, start sorting the numbers on the meteors. Look for the ones place value of each number. Identify the smallest number first.

  5. Use Logical Reasoning: Use your understanding of place value to logically arrange the numbers. Remember, the ones place is the rightmost digit in a number. Compare the ones place of different numbers to determine their order.

  6. Arrange Sequentially: As you identify the smallest number, place it first in your sorting sequence. Then, continue identifying the next smallest number and place it next to the previously sorted number. Keep sorting the numbers until you've arranged all of them in ascending order based on their ones place value.

  7. Track Progress: Keep track of your progress as you sort the numbers. Note down how many rocks (or meteors) you've collected in your math book.

  8. Review and Finalize: Once you've sorted all the numbers, review your sequence to ensure it's correct. Double-check the order of the numbers and make any adjustments. Once you're confident that your sequence is accurate, finalize your sorting and complete the game.

  9. Optional Extension: If desired, you can repeat the game to improve your speed and accuracy in sorting numbers based on their ones place value. Another extension is to order the numbers in the opposite order, starting with 10 and going down to 1.

TASK 2 - TENS TOWER CHALLENGE

  1. Listen to Instructions: Pay attention to the teacher's explanation of the Tens Tower Challenge. Understand that you'll be working with popsicle sticks representing groups of tens.

  2. Understand Tens Concept: Remember that each group of ten sticks represents a single unit called "tens".

  3. Start Counting: Begin counting the popsicle sticks carefully. Look for groups of ten sticks and count them as one unit.

  4. Determine Numbers: Figure out the number represented by each group of tens. Make sure to write down your answers neatly in your math book as instructed by the teacher.

  5. Check Your Answers: Double-check your counting and verify your answers before moving on to the next set of sticks.

  6. Ask for Help if Needed: If you're unsure about anything or need clarification, don't hesitate to ask the teacher for help.

TASK 3 - HUNDREDS HIDEOUT CHALLENGE.

  1. Introduction to the Challenge: Your teacher will introduce the Hundreds Hideout Challenge. You'll be exploring chests hidden throughout the classroom, each with a number in the hundreds written on them. Listen carefully to the instructions provided by your teacher. Understand that your task is to determine which chest contains the smallest number and which chest contains the largest number.

  2. Exploration: Begin exploring the classroom to locate the chests. Look closely at each chest to find the numbers written on them. Remember, these numbers are in the hundreds.

  3. Comparison: As you find the numbers on each chest, compare them to identify the smallest and largest numbers. HINT: Write the numbers down in your maths book!! Remember that the hundreds place is the first digit in a three-digit number.

  4. Ordering Numbers: Arrange all the numbers you found in your math book in the correct order. Start with the smallest number and end with the largest number. Double-check to make sure they are in the correct order and verify that you haven't missed any chests or numbers.

  5. Share and Discuss: Share your findings and the sequence of numbers you discovered with your classmates. If a student is struggling to find a chest, support them in playing the game "Hot and Cold".

  6. Extension: If time permits, you can extend the challenge by creating your own sequence of three-digit numbers for your classmates to solve.

TASK 4 - SORTING THOUSANDS

  1. Introduction: Read the task description carefully to understand what the challenge entails. Note that the objective is to test your knowledge of place value up to the thousands by sorting numbers from smallest to largest.

  2. Access the Online Game: Use the provided link or search for the game titled "Sorting Thousands" in your web browser to begin the challenge. Order 4-Digit Numbers Game - Math Games - SplashLearn
