Introduction

What is Part of The Speech?

“Parts of speech is a term used to describe the traditional class of words in the English language that varies according to the function performed or the idea denoted by those words in a sentence. There are 8 parts of speech in English, namely Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Conjunctions, and Interjections. 

Nouns : Names persons, places, things, ideas, or qualities.    examples : teacher, Albany, basketball, proposal, pride.  

  Mary is a beautiful woman.  

Pronouns : Words that replace a noun that has already been mentioned.   examples : I, you, him, her, me, this, that, they, which, she, he

He is a hardworking man. 

Verbs: Words that convey action, a state of being, or existence. examples: walk, go, sing, are, seem, sleep  

Bob goes to the school everyday. 

Adjectives : Words that describe nouns and pronouns.  examples : beautiful, green, angry, necessary 

Manuel has a black car. 

Adverbs: Words that modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They answer the questions: “When?”, “Where?”, “Why?”, “How?”, “How much?”, and “In what way?”                      examples: gracefully, very, too, loudly, finally . 

she spoke softly.  

Prepositions:  Words that link nouns or pronouns to other words within a sentence . examples : on,in ,under,within. 

she is at the library right now. 

Conjunctions : Words that link other words, phrases, or clauses in a sentence. 

a. Coordinating Conjunctions: Words that link independent clauses.  examples: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so

They want to go to a party,but they have to study. 

b. Subordinating Conjunctions: Words that link dependent clauses with independent clauses. examples:although, because, whether, while.   

she is late for work because she got up late. 

Interjections: Words that are used as exclamations or to express feeling.  examples :Hey! Oh! Darn! Wow!

wow! this cake is delicious.

 

Task

Create an original  story that includes all 8 parts of The speech ( the topic is free).  the story should be at least 3 pages length.

Remember  The parts of The speech are : Noun , Pronoun,Verb ,Adverb, Adjetive ,Preposition ,Conjuction and Interjection.

Conclusion

The parts of speech in English grammar is critical because they play a significant role in forming a sentence that is cohesive and adheres to the syntax of the phrase.

It allows us to form connections, influence decisions, and motivate change. Without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and in life, itself, would be nearly impossible. Public speaking is one of the most important and most dreaded forms of communication.
