Introduction
Healthcare knowledge is growing at exponential rates. It is impossible for us to know or remember
everything related to our field. Technology has provided mobile learning as one option for “just in time”
learning. Are there ways that we as educators can harness and use this technology?
This is an activity for nurse educators to learn more about Apps and Mobile Learning. If you are already familiar with with, join another team that is using a different tool.
Click on the "Task" bar (above) to proceed.
Task
Solve the identified learning need:
Learners have indicated an incomplete understanding of atrial fibrillation, in the areas of ECG identification, causes, risks, and treatment.
Review the links on the "Process" page, then search for Apps that could assist learners in addressing the learning need.
Process
Instructions:
1. Review the resources below
2. Define and describe Mobile Learning
3. Locate an APP that could assist in meeting the learning need that was identified on the previous "task" page
4. Download the app and try it out
5. Evaluate the quality of the app using one of the evaluation tools
6. Notify the workshop facilitator of the app you found
7. Prepare to demo the App for the larger group

Evaluation
Discuss among your group if this was a helpful exercise. What challenges did you face? What benefits could it provide? How might Apps be used in your teaching environments?
Plan to share an example of an App with the larger group of participants
Teacher Page
This webquest was designed for educators as an introduction to mobile learning. I use it during a workshop. Time frame for participant completion of the webquest can be 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the available time you have, number of participants, and the depth in which you would like the topic explored. Optimally, I have several teams, each completing a webquest on a different topic. The teams converge and present their findings to the larger group as part of the workshop. Participants are asked to self-evaluate if they were able to meet the workshop learner objectives.
Teachers and Educators are welcome to use this webquest and adapt it to meet their needs.
