Hello there, young explorer! Today you're embarking on a fantastic journey called “Fluttering through the Butterfly Quest: A magical metamorphosis adventure for 2nd graders.” 

You might be wondering why you're sitting in front of this computer, about to explore into the world of butterflies. Well, let me tell you, it's not just any ordinary day, it's a day where you'll transform your knowledge just like a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly!

The reason you're doing this web quest is because you're going to become a butterfly expert. You'll learn about the amazing process of metamorphosis, which is a big word that means change. Just like how a tiny egg becomes a caterpillar, then a chrysalis, and finally an amazing butterfly, you'll see how learning new things can change you too!

By the end of this magical adventure, here's what you'll be able to do:

Step 2: Read About the Butterfly Stages

Step 6: Create Your Butterfly Life Cycle Chart

Using the information you've gathered, create a colorful life cycle drawing. Make sure you label all the necessary parts of the cycle. You can draw on paper and use all the colors you want. This is your own personal creation. Remember, we will share it with the class! A rubric is provided so you can see what I’m looking for.

Finally, share your art with your classmates! We will take turns presenting our drawings to the class. I will ask one of the following questions to each of you to see what you have learned.

3. What was the most interesting or surprising thing you learned about butterflies while completing the web quest?

6. How does your drawing represent the concept of metamorphosis, the process of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly?

7. What similarities and differences did you notice in the life cycle drawings presented by your classmates?
