Subject: Science (Constructing Food Chains)

Introduction

Hello my grade 5 students. In today's lesson we will be focusing on the food chain. Let us get ready to learn!

What is a food chain? A food chain is a sequence that shows the transfer of energy from one organism to another, as organism eat and are eaten.

The food chain consists of:

  • Producer: Organisms that make their own food. E.g.: green plant
  • Herbivore: Organisms that that only eat plants.
  • Carnivore: Organisms that eat animals.
  • Omnivore: Organisms that eat both plants and animals.

Herbivores, Carnivores, and Omnivores

Task

The students will:

  1. Watch and listen attentively to the YouTube video on food chains and take notes on the roles of producers, herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
  2. Properly complete the Google Forms quiz related to food chains.
  3. Accurately construct their own food chain using the knowledge gained from the lesson, students must include producers, herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores in their food chain.
