UN Sustainable Development Goals

Introduction

Welcome to the world of sustainable development!

In this webquest, you will explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals adopted by all UN Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all.

By the end of this quest, you will have a deeper understanding of the SDGs and how they relate to global issues.

Task

Read about the Sustainable Development Goals here: https://sdgs.un.org/goals

Task 1: Research and define the following terms. Put these onto Word or Google Docs, and save to your computer.

sustainability, poverty, developed nations, developing nations, inequality, renewable, unsustainable.

 

Task 2: Choose ONE of the following tasks to complete:

  1. Create a poster or infographic summarising the key aspects of each SDG.
  2. Choose ONE of the SDGs and create a PowerPoint explaining the importance of the SDG and how it relates to global issues.
  3. Identify a local or global issue that aligns with one of the SDGs and develop a plan of action to address the issue, including specific goals and steps to achieve them.
Process

Task 1: Open up a Word document or Google Docs. Use your browser to research and define in each term. Put these into your own words.

Task 2: Select ONE of the tasks to complete. Research about your chosen topic and include images. You may like to use Canva, Powerpoint or Word to complete the task.
