- During reflection session students were asked to relate today’s lesson in the real world.

Differentiated Strategies to Meet Diverse Needs: This lesson will cater to different learning styles. The visual and auditory learners will engage in the youtube video as well as express their understanding of place values. For the visual learners they will have the opportunity to work examples on the board. To accommodate the tactile learners the kahoot game will help them to do more hands-on activities.

Process
Procedures/Activities:
Engage: In order to grap the attention of the students a YouTube video with some amount of the content to be taught will be shown to the students. From this video students will be well attentive they normally gravitate towards technology.
Explain: Students were given the opportunity to participate in answering questions on the board. The concept of the “th” place value being a fraction was discovered by students. Therefore, it was reinforced that decimals were fractions. The further away the number is from the decimal point the smaller the fraction is as well as the value of that number.

Elaborate: Students were given a teacher generated worksheet to further assess their understanding of place value of whole numbers and decimals. In the worksheet worded questions were also used that required students to do addition then placed their answers in the correct place value. A kahoot! game was also used to facilitate the tactile learners, and they were asked to answer this question within a time limit to also test their understanding.

Explore: The application of place value in the real-world setting was explained to students and how important it is to place numbers in their correct position, as this is what gives the value of the number. Students were specifically reminded that even zero has a value depending on where it is placed.

Evaluation
Evaluation: Based on the feedback from the students the concept of the lesson was grasp. The formative assessment that was in the form of questions and the teacher generated worksheet was mastered with 100% accurately.
Conclusion
In conclusion this lesson will be a success to help each student to see the importance of a place value not only that but to identify the connection of place value in the real world aspect. This lesson was created to ensure that each student has a wonderful experience while learning the content. The youtube video was in place to get students actively engaged to differentiate between the whole number and decimal aspect of place value.
