Welcome to the module in HOUSEKEEPING NCII QUALIFICATION. This module contains training materials and activities for you to complete.
The unit of competency "CLEAN AND PREPARE ROOMS FOR INCOMING GUEST" contains knowledge, skills and attitude required for TRAINEES.
You are required to go through, a series of learning activities in order to complete each learning outcome of the module. In each learning outcome are Information Sheet, Self-Checks, Task Sheets and Job Sheets. Then follow these activities on your own. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask your facilitator for assistance.
The goal of this course is the development of practical skills in supervising work-based training. Tools in planning, monitoring and evaluation of work-based training shall be prepared during the workshop to support in the implementation of the training program.

ORDER OF CLEANING A ROOM
Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be knowledgeable on the order of cleaning a room.
It is always neecessary to take note of a very organized way of cleaning a room to save time and resources.
If it is a make-up room, (making up room) meaning there is a registered guest but has left, do the following sequence:
- switch on light
- buss out (if there are any)
- make up bed
- clean bathroom
- generally clean the room including mini bar
- replenish amenities
- double check overall room condition
- switch off light, close and lock room
If it is a vacant dirty room, (servicing a room) meaning a check-out room, do the following sequence:
- switch on light
- open curtain and windows for ventilation
- inventory whole room for items left and room defects or damages
- report lost and found items as well as maintenance problems
- buss out (if there are any)
- clean bathroom
- make up bed
- generally clean the room including mini bar
- replenish amenities
- record and call up supervisor to report room status
- close curtain keeping at least 12 open to give light
- double check overall room condition
- switch off light, close and lock room
If it is a vacant ready room, meaning the room is ready for occupancy and has not been used by guest, do the following:
- generally check room condition
• switch on light
• fresh and neatly spread bed linens and bed cover
• fresh and clean bathroom complete room amenities as required based on kind of room
• operational room facilities and appliances
- switch off light, close and lock room
If room attendant notices any misbehavior of the guest while doing the housekeeping services, consider the following:
- keep calm
- pretend to get something from the trolley
- use your mobile phone to call your supervisor for support or companion
- enter only when support arri

PROCEDURE IN VACUUMING
Title: Procedure in Vacuuming
Performance Objective:
Given the necessary materials, tools, chemical agents and equipment, you must be able to perform the procedure in vacuuming in 10 minutes following industry standard.
Cleaning materials:
Soft broom Dusting cloth Dust pan
Equipment:
Vacuum cleaner PPE
Procedure:
1. Put on appropriate PPE before working.
2. Check condition of equipment then wipe before using.
3. Place the vacuum cleaner at the corner of the carpet to start the process. Plug the vacuum (Operation Sheet No. 2.4-2).
4. Start vacuuming from the corner using a downward movement. If the carpet is wider than usual, do the process on the half of the carpet then work on the other half by starting from where you ended.
5. Repeat the process until vacuuming is entirely done.
6. Open the dust bag compartment. Empty the dust bag then re-install.
7. Switch off the equipment and unplug.
8. Check and wipe the equipment thoroughly, then store.
