Modals Perfect

When we want to use modals to talk about the past, we use modals perfect (modal+ have + past participle).

we use:

  • may (not) / might (not)/could+have + past participle to talk about possibility in the past.
  • E.G. peter is careless. He may / might/ could have forgotten to turn the lights off.
