IES N°4 Introductory Course

Unit 1 coursebook “Insight” Pre-intermediate Student’s Book and Workbook by Wildam J. and Beddall F. 2014 – Oxford University Press.

San Salvador de Jujuy is not a cosmopolitan city. Therefore, we are not used to seeing a lot of people from all around the world in our way to school or work.  Before reading the text "Around the world on the Number 7 train" on page 10 and 11 respectively, watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aClp2Gu0yoMcompare it with the way you get to school or work and answer:

a. What do you generally see every time you get on the bus?

Once you finish sharing your ideas with your classmates, read the text and reflect on these questions:

b. How is Manuela's journey similar to your own?

c. How is it different?

Task

The task will be divided into three parts.

  1. In groups of no more than four students, prepare a debate about the pros and cons of public transport in San Salvador de Jujuy and compare them to the public transport in New York.

  2. Then watch the video included in the introduction again and create a dialogue using the context below. Get ready to role-play. Use your imagination and be creative.

Context: Two commuters arrive at the bus station and realize that bus drives are on strike. They didn’t know about this situation and now they don’t know how to get to work.
