Parts of Speech- Resource ELA

Introduction

Welcome to the Parts of Speech Webquest!  Identifying and using parts of speech is a necessary skill in developing compound and complex sentence structures.

In this activity, you will learn how to correctly identify pronouns, prepositions, adjectives, and adverbs.  You will take notes, complete practice exercises, and write a 3 paragraph story for your final task.  After completing the creative writing on your topic of choice, you will correctly label each of these parts of speech in your sentences.  You will find that you are very good at using different parts of speech in your writing!  I will read your creative writing and award a possible 100 points for this assignment based on a scoring rubric.

Conclusion

Congratulations on completing our first class webquest :)

Reviewing parts of speech can be fun and will help you create more descriptive sentences, leading to more compound, complex and compound-complex sentences.  I know you are wonderful writers and I can't wait to read your creative stories.  Hopefully writing about a topic of your choosing will make writing fun.  I'm always here if you have questions or get stuck, so don't hesitate to raise your hand.

We will be continuing to work on parts of speech review and writing prompts as we build to the narrative writing for state testing.
