Patient’s Bill of Rights and Obligations

Introduction

The aim of the Health Service is to ensure that patients are provided with quality and confidential health care. We need to work together as a team to develop and maintain optimal health in order to achieve this objective effectively.  The Agency shall be dedicated to the promotion of and defense of one's rights for attentive, compassionate treatment including protection of confidentiality, personal dignity or safety as well as being guided by cultural, social, and spiritual beliefs. The relationship with the care team will be deepened and positive health outcomes for all of us, just like you, shall be fostered by knowing and accepting your rights and responsibilities.

Task

The patient shall be responsible for offering to the best of his or her capacity complete and accurate information about current health complaints, past illnesses, hospital stays, and prescription issues concerning health care. He shall be responsible for informing the appropriate healthcare professional of all unforeseen situations in his or her health. Patients must specify whether or not they are aware of their medical program and what is planned for them.

People have certain rights if they choose someone else to be their nurse. We need you to know your rights so that we can work together and give you the best possible treatment. Access to healthcare information, fairness of treatment, and the right to decide on health care are covered by human rights.

Process

Adherence to the treatment plan recommended by a healthcare professional responsible for his or her care is an obligation of the patient. Examples of this would be taking orders from nurses and health workers when implementing a project of care, and following instructions from the healthcare professional who is responsible for ordering staff to comply with his or her guidance and standards. In cases where he is unable to do so for any reason, the patient may be able to make appointments and notify his doctor's office.

  • Be assured of the confidential treatment of disclosures and records and to approve or refuse the release of such information, except when the release of specific information is required by law or is necessary to safeguard you or the university community.
  • Ask questions if you do not understand the directions or treatment being given by a provider
Evaluation

The responsibility for ensuring that all patient's rights are respected at all times lies with each staff member of the healthcare system. These rights may be exercised without pressure, discrimination, harassment, abuse, or reprisals by the patient or his legally authorized representative when receiving medical care or treatment at an institution.

The care of the dignity of all patients and medical staff shall be entrusted to you. It's about not smoking, keeping the noise and the guests under control. The responsibility lies with you to respect each other and the clinic's property. You know that you could be removed from your healthcare organization if you show too much aggressiveness or disrespect.

Conclusion

Patient safety is our primary objective. You've got the right to be cared for in a safe environment as a patient. Everyone has a responsibility for ensuring the safety of healthcare services, in particular healthcare professionals, hospital managers, nurses and technicians.  You play an essential role in ensuring the safety of your treatment by actively participating and being aware of a medical team that you belong to. We will listen and take appropriate action on your concerns about security risks, as well as recommendations for improvement. Talk to your doctor or nurse if you have any concerns.
