Introduction

"Exploring Sustainable Living: Integrating Language and Environmental Science" focuses on the importance of sustainability and its integration across language and environmental science disciplines. Sustainable living refers to the practice of making choices that minimize harm to the environment, promote social well-being, and ensure long-term economic viability.
In this unit, you will delve into the concept of sustainability, exploring its different dimensions and understanding how their actions can contribute to a more sustainable future. You will develop knowledge and skills related to environmental conservation, renewable energy, waste reduction, and responsible consumption.
Through an integrated approach, you are expected to enhance your language skills but also gain a deeper understanding of environmental science concepts and practical applications. You will explore the interconnectedness between human actions and the natural world, fostering an appreciation for the delicate balance required to achieve sustainable living.

Task
Activity: Sustainable Living Video Reflection.
This activity is based on the material which you must have reviewed in the introduction.
Note-taking materials (paper, pencils, or digital devices)
In Groups of 4, You are expected to choose an aspect of sustainable living (energy conservation, recycling, water usage) to focus on.
In your groups, you need to research and create a poster of the various challenges and benefits of sustainable living practices, clearly stating how these challenges can be contained or reduced.
From your poster, prepare a short presentation summarizing your findings in the form of a video or PowerPoint presentation.
You are expected to include practical examples, personal experiences, and ideas for implementing sustainable practices in our daily lives.
The video should be properly introduced, sequenced and should be followed by some time for Q&A.

YOUR JOURNEY TO SUCCESS
STEP 1: Create your group of 4 students.
chose a topic for research on based on any aspect of sustainable living (e.g., energy conservation, recycling, water usage).
Initial Discussion: Evaluate your prior knowledge on sustainability in relation to the aspect you have selected. Focus on answering the following questions;
- What dis sustainable living all about? Write your own definition!
- What are some ways you can be more sustainable?
- What does sustainability look like in our world, at home, in our community?
- How can you focus on an aspect of sustainability to become more sustainable?

Group Research........
STEP 2: Meet with your group and share ideas on your individual learnings. Now you can assign specific tasks and plan on your first poster draft.

STEP 3: Meet with your group and analyze the poster, come up with more ideas on what to include in your poster. Make a second draft of the poster and conclude on it.
STEP 4: Chose what type of presentation you would like to give to the class (video or PPT).
Come up with a plan on starting your video presentation, you can use canvas for your video (https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.canva.com&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AOvVaw2yF8f5zKemePq_-iE33et5). If you decide on doing a Powerpoint presentation, you are expected to use Google slides for this (https://docs.google.com/presentation/u/0/).
STEP 5: Formulate ideas about what information you would like to include in the presentation or video! Make sure you think about what is required! Gather information to present to the class, start creating the first draft of your video or presentation.

STEP 6: Complete your presentation or video, when all group members are happy with the presentation or video, go over it again and make sure to include the key ideas and terminologies.
STEP 7:
PRESENTATION DAY!
A discussion on sustainable living will be opened by the teacher, each group will be given a chance to share their project with the class.
After watching the group presentations, we will allow a short time for Q&A.
At the end, you will have time to reflect on each groups presentation and respond to some questions.
