Big machinery and how it's used!

Introduction

Good morning kindergartenersners! Today we are going to go over the pushes and pulls at work. 

Our learning objective is to learn which machines push and which makes pull . 

Standards

K-PS2-1. Plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object.

K-PS2-2. Analyze data to determine if a design solution works as intended to change the speed or direction of an object with a push or a pull.*

Task

We are going to visit the Mystery Science page. We are going to watch the read along book. Throughout the book, there will be stop and talk areas. We are going to turn and talk with our table groups. I will call each table group to give one response. 

Process

  • While the read along book is playing, we will have voices off so everyone can hear. 
  • There are stop and talk questions. We will read it aloud and you will discuss it with your table group.
  • I will call on each table group to give one response to the question.
  • When we get to the get up and move section, I need everyone out of their seats and at least arms width away from your friends. 
  • Keeping track of our bodies, we are going to do the movements of the machinery.

Evaluation

After learning about our BIG machinery and how they work and what they do, I want each one of you to take the journal sheet I set at your desk and draw which piece of machinery you like and put it to work! Conclusion

When you are done I will walk around and look at all of your drawings. Make sure we are using our best Kindergarten hand writing and coloring!
