SPED quest

Introduction

Please feel free to browse this WebQuest to learn more about special education students and their requirements. Through this WebQuest, parents, teachers, and students can access a variety of websites that describe, define, and offer tips on how to advance their understanding of special education.

Everyone should be treated equally, and I hope that this WebQuest has helped you become more familiar with special education and the resources available to you in case you ever find yourself in a sticky situation. Many frequently asked questions about children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, and Emotionally Disturbed can be answered by the wealth of resources available on these conditions. These websites also give you the chance to learn more about each organization and these disabilities.

Task

For this Task you will create a lesson plan using the websites listed here to help organize, define, and covey thoughts/ideas to help teachers of children who are diagnosed with Autism. Your lesson plan needs to be inclusive of learning for children who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

Process

Please visit the websites below to start creating your own lesson plan that is suitable for students with special needs. Any special education grade level (K–3) can have a lesson plan. Additionally, you might have a lesson plan that calls for aides or teacher assistants to guide the students through an activity. Enjoy yourself, and make sure ALL kids can participate! It is important to communicate clearly with the aides or teacher assistants about their roles and responsibilities during the activity. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page and that the activity runs smoothly.

You will start by choosing what your lesson will be on( your lesson plan needs to be created for a 6th grade classroom with math as the subject you are teaching)  once you have decided your topic you will select a template from below. Next you will create an introduction(this gives an overview of your lesson plan). The body of the lesson plan is created next (this is where you will put all actives you wish to conduct and the content you wish to teach). The procedural section contains different teaching methods and strategies(this portion is very crucial when teaching children with special needs as you may need to incorporate some unconventional teaching methods). The very last section is your conclusion (you may include your chosen evaluation technique in this section).
