Irregular verbs Webquest!

Introduction

WELCOME STUDENTS! 👋

As you know, we have been learning irregular verbs in class. But what exactly are they?

First of all, we know what the simple past is:

  • The simple past is the basic form of the past tense in English grammar, we use it for: actions that happened once or repeatedly in the past. At the end of the verb, you add +ied, +ed or +d.

Some examples are:

Regular verbs
verb +ied +ed +d
play ------ played ----------
jump ------ jumped ----------
cry cried ---------- ----------
phone ------ ---------- phoned

However, irregular verbs are a little bit different:

  • Irregular verbs are verbs that do not follow the normal patterns for tense and past participle. This means that these verbs are somewhat changed. While most English regular verbs use the ending “+ied, +ed or +d” for the past tense and participle forms, irregular verbs each have their own unique tense forms

Some examples are:

Irregular verbs
verb past tense
sing sang
sell sold
send sent
see saw

  • At the end of each task/game, you must take a screenshot of your results in which the date and time have to be visible. Please, be honest!
  • You will be graded with a rubric based on your overall score in each of the activities. This will help me understand what your strengths and weaknesses are.
