Dr Racek,

This one came from the heart.

Apart from the article on the 5 most common foreign born immigrants in the United States (of which I choose the top three) and the You Tube video credits, I did not feel the need to comfirm what it "common" knowledge, that immigrant children, who speak a different language other than English, have a difficult time assimilating in a school environment, especially in the earlier grades.

Grade Level: 3-5,

Curriculum: General - Within the first week of class

This lesson addressed several of the cultural relevancies discussed in this week’s reading.  The first one is that it achieved “cultural awareness” as an acknowledgement of cultural and individual differences through implementation of instructional and learning activities that introduced various native languages to the entire classroom. In addition, the lesson created a culturally supportive and safe environment, in which to learn about - as well as include and integrate - learner's native languages. And last but not least, was the lesson’s instructional integration of technology as an essential tool for learning and teaching.
