Task

You will be able to

1. Describe what the human digestive system is.

2. Differentiate between diet and nutrition.

3. Describe the effects of poor nutrition and the importance of a healthy diet.

To ensure I get input from everyone working on this assignment and their level of comprehension of the content, you will be working in groups. You have been assigned the task of writing an essay outlining the benefits and drawbacks of junk food and debating whether it should be prohibited. An introduction and a conclusion are necessary components of the essay.

A quiz will be assigned to be answered individually.

Watch the video below and write the following:

a. Definition for the term digestive system.

b. Where do humans get energy from?

Step 2: Let's find out about the Human digestive system https://byjus.com/biology/human-digestive-system/ and nutrition.

The digestive system is made up of organs that work together to break down food into usable energy and nutrients.

Intake, digestion, and absorption are the four stages of the nutrition process.

integration and digestion.

The act of taking food into one's body is known as ingestion.

In the digestive process, large molecules are broken down into smaller ones by mechanical means or chemical means.

During absorption, molecules pass through the lining of the small intestine digestive tract) into the circulatory system. Through a process known as assimilation, nutrients are taken into the cell and used.

The term "egestion" refers to the elimination of unused nutrients from the digestive system.

Adequate, well-balanced dietary intake, in addition to consistent physical exercise, constitutes good nutrition. Subsequent health problems from a diet high in processed foods:

Inadequate nutrition, especially in the form of fast food, has been associated to an increased risk of obesity, depression, digestive problems, cardiovascular disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and premature death. Of course, the more often you eat junk food, the more damage it does to your body.

Organs of the digestive system work together to break down food into usable energy and nutrients for the body as a whole.

Eating serves two main functions for humans: providing fuel and nourishing the body. Carbohydrates and fats are the main sources of energy in the human diet. Absorption of additional nutrients, such as calcium for bones and muscle, aids in general maintenance and the synthesis of proteins and enzymes.

The human digestive system employs two types of digestion:

• Processes of mechanical digestion

• Digestion by chemicals

For mechanical digestion to begin, food must first be chewed by the teeth and formed into a ball (bolus) by the tongue before it can be swallowed.

Enzymes aid in the chemical digestion process, which breaks down food into its constituent nutrients.

Step 3: Write down an essay explaining what constitutes a healthy diet.

See below for an illustration of a healthy diet and digestive system:

Conclusion

The time for today's lesson on the Human digestive system has come to a close. I'm hoping you've learned something that will help you grasp the idea of the digestive system and a healthy balanced diet and become more conscious of the fact that it's present in our lives on a daily basis.

There is a lot more to learn about the human digestive system and nutrition, but we will have to leave it here for now.
