All About Zoo!

Introduction

Hello Students! A zoo can hold all kinds of animals worldwide in outdoor displays that look like their natural environments. Zoos help humans see these animals that we wouldn't necessarily see daily and explore how they live and react in their natural habitats.

Task

In the spring, we will go on a class trip to the zoo. Our job before we go is to become a zoo specialist! Your task is to select a zoo animal you are interested in and become an expert on them! I want you to learn as much as you can about that animal, such as their habitat, daily routines, their diets, and anything else there is that feels like important information. You have to know what you are looking at when you go visit that animal right?

Process

1. Choose an animal from the list given, there are only 3 of each animal so think carefully. You may choose to work with the people you share an animal with or you may work alone. The animals are

  • Lion
  • Elephant
  • Giraffe
  • Bear
  • Eagle
  • Rhino
  • Tiger
  • Zebra
  • Alligator

2. Once you have selected your animals and your group (or yourself) you now should begin your research. If you have a group each person should split the research. You can create a PowerPoint to show everything you learned.

3. Your PowerPoint should be split into 2 slides per partner (6 total) or if you are by yourself at least 4 slides. The slides should include the animals: Natural habitat, physical characteristics, diet, and daily routines. Everyone should work together to come up with the information needed for the final presentation. There also needs to be a picture on each slide showing the animal in each of the categories.

4. Your group (or yourself) will present your slides to the class.
