Introduction
  • This is a Webquest designed for learners of the Life Sciences Grade 10 class.
  • In this Webquest learners will be introduced to the Support system in animals, where they will acquire knowledge of some of the basic terminologies of the three types of Skeletons in animals,
  • Look into the Human Skeleton, its functions, and its parts.

Question 1

1.1. Differentiate between the Hydrostatic skeleton and Endoskeleton. (4)

1.2. State FOUR functions of the human skeleton. (4)

2.2. State the dental formula for humans. (2)

2.4. With which vertebra does this part (answer of 2.3) of the skeleton articulate? (1)

The diagrams below show the pelvic structure of a male and a female.

3.1. Identify parts A, B, C, and D. (4)

3.2. To which of the TWO main sections of the skeleton do these structures belong? (1)

3.2.  Suggest a reason why the pelvic girdle needs to be rigid. (2)

  • Use your textbook and the slides to complete the activity.
  • Take responsibility to do some research on some of the few questions to answer adequately. 
  • Your own research will also give you more understanding of some of the information we covered,
  • and some of what we will cover.

 

Evaluation
  1. The Task is out of 20 marks.
  2. Number correctly (use the same numbering).
  3. You will lose marks for wrong spelling, ESPECIALLY FOR BIOLOGICAL TERMS!
  4. Incomplete work will not be marked.
