Airport Arrival 入境

Introduction

Happy Monday! Internship Students!

Today your task is to create an arrival process map for our airline’s passengers who are arriving in Shanghai, China and ready to get through the arrival procedure at the airport. You will have two tasks to complete. The first is to create steps of the procedure of arrival with details of description on each step. The second is to create steps of the procedure of claim for baggage delay or loss. You will present these two process maps at 10am this Friday during our weekly meeting. Your dedication and efforts will make our passengers a convenient and comfortable travel journey to enter their destination. At the end of this practice, you can describe the procedure of arrival and baggage claim at the airport in China.

Task

Your role is an intern working in the Planning Department of an airline. You will work with another intern as a group to complete the following two tasks.

  1. Create a Process map of arrival at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This language version of this process map is both in English and Chinese. You will use Padlet to create your process map.

  2. Create a Process map of baggage claim at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This language version of this process map is both in English and Chinese. You will use Padlet to create your process map.

Process

Task#1: Process map of arrival

  • Step 1: Watch and read resources.

  • Step 2: Discuss with your partner to do an internet search for additional information about arrival procedures at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

  • Step 3: Work with your partner together to design and create a flowchart on Padlet to describe the procedure and steps of arrivals.

  • Step 4: Present your process map with your partner during the weekly meeting this Friday.

Task#2: Process map of baggage claim 

  • Step 1: Watch and read resources.

The WebQuest research can help students to increase their engagement, and skills of critical thinking and problem solving. It also helps to create an authentic learning environment for students to get ready for the real world.

Learners:

  • This is a Chinese lesson for grades 9th to 12th. This is a think-pair-share activity to create a process map for arrival and baggage claim procedure in both Chinese and English at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This is an inclusive classroom. The modification and accommodation will be adapted to meet the student's individual needs.

Differentiated Instruction

  • Through pairing small groups, students can work with peer assistants and teacher’s scaffolding to collaborate on their tasks. The multiple texts and types of learning materials are provided. The match vocabulary words to definitions is an example for differentiating activity of content, the resource of video and article is an example for differentiating the process; visual learners create a graphic organizer of the process map is an example of differentiating the end product; think-pair-share is an example of differentiating the environment.
