Introduction
In the midst of the Great War (World War I) Russia experienced a Communist revolution that led to Russia no longer fighting against the Germans as well as the eventual creation of a new governmental state- the United Soviet Socialist Republic (U.S.S.R.). Although the Bolshevik Revolution did not start until 1917, the rumblings of unhappiness with the monarchy started more than a decade before. In this webquest, you will learn about the Romanov dynasty, the Bloody Sunday massacre, and the overtaking of Russia by the communists.
