How can I be an engaged citizen?

Task

For this project, you are being asked to research and identify a problem in your community that you would like to address. Then, you are going to make a plan on how you can get engaged with your community to help address this problem. This can be done in any way that you feel fits, whether it be through a fundraiser, food drive, documentary, etc.

Process

Your Task:

  • Step 1:

Use the information provided to choose and research a community issue of your choice

  • Step 2:

Create a plan on how you are going to assess or help this problem. Examples of this could be a food drive, fundraiser, etc.

Research:

  • Watch this documentary to gather some introductory information about some of the main problems in your area:

  • During your research, take notes! This will help you when creating your final product.

Plan your Product/Event:

  • Your way of assessing and fixing your chosen problem can be done in any way you feel is the best fit.

  • Plan exactly what you are going to do including all aspects that will go into making your idea a reality.

  • You do not need to actually execute this plan. Just create an in-depth plan of how you would go about planning and creating it.

Evaluation:

  • Once you have finished your research and product planning, create a list of things you felt you could have improved if you were to redo this project. In this list, also provide things you felt you did well and would use again if you were to redo this project.
