Introduction
Students,
Prom is fast approaching! The chef hired for the prom banquet is French and speaks no English. While the food will be delicious and authentic, you must be the liason between the chef and the student body and help select the three best recipes so that everyone enjoys the food!
Task
Your task:
Select the five or six best menu options from the list provided. You must consider the price of making each dish, and food preferences, while also maintaining a French menu. There is a budget of $10 per prom attendee.
Process
Using the links, make a list of your top 15 options. Be sure you know what each ingredient is. Do not delete this list- it will need to be turned in! Find a variety so you can offer an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert to each diner
Look at your ingredient list. Is each available locally? If not is there a reasonable substitution? Is it affordable? You will need to convert grams to ounces in order to work out the price per serving. Show your conversion work for two recipes to work out the price per serving. You will need to compete this for all eight, but I'm asking you to show me just two.
Hint: What else will you need to convert?
If you cannot get an ingredient or find a substitution OR you cannot get the price low enough, you will need to add another recipe to your top 15. Do not delete previous recipes- just add the additional ones to the bottom.
Based on the questions above, narrow the list to your top eight choices. Label this list Top Eight and paste the recipes (links) under the original 15. Consider offering a vegetarian option and more than one dessert. Can you reduce eight options to 5 or 6? If not, tweak your original 15 list and try again until you have 5 workable recipes that include one vegetarian main dish and at least one dessert. Don't forget that your budget is $10 a plate, not per recipe. Diners will expect an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert at the very least. Draw on your knowledge of French foods to help you decide what to offer, and select items your classmates will eat.
Paste your top 5 recipes and label them Final Menu and submit them to the chef for approval. If you cannot get the price low enough, what will the price per plate be?

Conclusion
Conclusion: Please respond to the reflection questions on a separate sheet.
Hopefully you have selected 5-6 delicious menu items for the Prom banquet! Which are you most excited to try?
You will submit your final to Google classroom on XXX date. Double check you have included all the required elements.
Is this a menu your friends will like? Is it authentically French?
Reflect: What went well in your group? Who was the leader(s)? Did your group do a good job of discussing the menu? Did you argue? Did one person decide?
