The First Fleet: Reasons for the Journey

Introduction

Welcome fearless ABC news reporters to Portsmouth, England! Today is the cloudy morning of the 13th of May, 1787! A historic day as we prepare our fleet to set sail across the mighty oceans of this world to the distant land of Australia.  Your teacher has informed me that you were going to be travelling back in time to this historic moment to record the experiences of the first settlers on their journey to Australia ⛵. All great journey's have a purpose however. Take time to uncover the hidden reasons for ours!

Sincerely,

Officer Robert Smith of the First Fleet

It will be your task to investigate the important reasons why we set sail to the mysterious land of Australia. Pay close attention to the reasons why our fleet set sail when doing your reporting and be sure to identify the person in charge of leading the fleet. Journal all the information you find into your notebooks. Best of luck to you all!!
