Research on cells

Introduction

We were talking about things related to cells. Such as ``What role do cells play in preventing the stomach from digesting itself?”, and “How are frog eggs being used in research involving human cells?”  For each of our questions we researched what to write and whether it was right or wrong. Cells play a role in many scenarios and for our questions we answered what you may be wondering.

Task

In this WebQuest we are going to be telling you about the wonderful world of cells. When you finish everything you will be able to answer all of these questions.

1. What do researchers think is one cause of memory impairment related to growing older? What does new research show that may be able to help reverse this process?

2. How might fat cells be able to help people with spinal cord injuries?

3. How are frog eggs being used in research involving human cells?

4. What are Schwann cells? How are they affected in multiple sclerosis

patients?

5. What role do cells play in preventing the stomach from digesting itself?

Process

Researchers have found a protein that can reverse memory impairment in older people. Reduced blood flow affects older peoples memory and it mentally changes. Fat cells can help with spinal cord injuries ,by removing your own fat and putting it back inside you. Frog eggs can renew adult human cells, molecules in the nucleus lure mature human DNA back to an adaptable stem cell. The stomach can not digest itself because it is lined with epithelial cells, which produce mucus. This forms a wall between the border of the stomach and the contents. A Schwann cell is myelinating cell of PNS. Schwann non-neuronal cells are a type of cells that support and protect neurons.

Evaluation

Conclusion

To sum it all up,cells are useful in many ways. For example fat cells can help with spinal cord injuries. Cells can also be compared with other things. Such as frog eggs can be compared with human cells. So cells are important in many ways. Cells can do many things. So next time you need help with learning about cells you can come here and learn a little bit about them.
