Introduction
Let's explore the cuisines of the world!
You'll journey to a foreign location and do a virtual tour of the city, exploring the neighbourhoods with Google Maps. Then you will explore the traditional cuisine and report on the myriad ways in which they are prepared and associated food etiquette with your chosen country.

Task
Task:
You will choose a city in French-speaking country in the world. Then you will explore that city with Google Maps or Google Earth, saving pictures along the way. You will summarise your findings with a description of the city and its demographics, including some of your saved pictures to help bring your description alive. Afterwards, you will use the web to discover information about the traditional types of foods they serve in that country and some of the various types of cooking methods and preparations that the people utilise. You will conduct research to learn about food etiquette in your chosen country and create an infographic. Finally, you will record a short video snippet to outline food etiquette associated with your country.
Process
Process:
First choose a French-speaking country. Choose a city in which you are interested. Using Google Maps https://www.google.com/maps or Google Earth https://earth.google.com/web/@0.00000025,-1.03995835,-90.63143206a,22251916.34394957d,35y,0h,0t,0r, use the toolbar to zoom in to take a virtual walking tour of the city. Make notes of the types of buildings and commercial businesses in the different neighbourhoods.
Then, research the types of foods commonly eaten in your country.
Use Canva to create an infographic to describe that city e.g.
- location and description of the city
- ethnicity and religious faiths of the people living there
- traditional foods of the country you have chosen
- include photos/images available that capture the "flavour" of that city.
Then, research the "dos and don'ts" of food etiquette in your country. Record a short video snippet to outline food etiquette associated with your country.
Directions and the evaluation rubric for this aspect are linked on the bottom of the Evaluation page.
