Introduction
![]()
Lately, more and more rubbish and plastic is seen around our entire world. It is essential to raise awareness within the populations of this real and serious problem that is already affecting our health. Also, to start making a difference in our daily lives to, little by little, help the environment recover. But we must all make this change starting from our homes, schools and cities. LITTLE ACTIONS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.
During this lesson, you will answer all these questions during the completion of this WebQuest and will also recycle your own objects to create a new one. To finish, you will make either a PSA (Public Service Announcement) or an "Awareness" Poster that demonstrates understanding of the impact recylcing has on our planet/community.
Task
Task 1 Investigate about Recycling.
- What is it?
- How does it affect the environment?
- What items are recyclable and non recyclable?
- Differentiate the bins for different recyclable items.
- Can one person make a difference?
- What is the symbol for recycling and what does it represent?
- Which is the nearest recycling centre to your house?
- Explain the 6 Rs: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair?
Task 2 6Rs: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair
Create something from recycled items. In the Process section you will find links that can give you some ideas but you can also invent your own thing.
Task 3 Design, Creation Process, Present
Design a creative presentation including the creation process of your object, videos, photos, a poster or a PSA (Public Service Announcement) about recycling and the importance of doing this. Make the group presentation in your creative way to tell the class how your recycling adventure experience was.
Present it to the rest of the class. You have 5 minutes to do the presentation and all the members of the group must tell something about it.
Task 4 Rethink
List 3 things you learned while watching/re-watching the video.
IMPORTANT: You have two classes to complete the tasks and the third class will be for presentations. Then, I recommend you to divide the tasks among the group for a more efficient teamwork. If you do not have time to finish it in class you will have to do it at home. So, make the most of the time you have!
