Chemical Changes

Introduction

Chemical Changes

Chemical changes occur when a substance and another substance are formed to make a new substance. In a chemical reaction, the atoms and molecules that interact with each other are called reactants. No new atoms are created, and no atoms are destroyed. In a chemical reaction, reactants contact each other, bonds between atoms in the reactants are broken, and atoms rearrange and form new bonds to make the products. For an example, the reactant side will have the same amount of atoms as the products side.

If the reactant side and the product side isn't the same though, more atoms will be added from one or the other side to make the equation balanced. To do so, coefficients need to be added to the chemical equation. ... This balances the atoms, making the number of atoms the same on both the reactants and products side. In this example, what you would do to make the equation balanced is you would add to carbon atoms on the left side and 3 Iron atoms which would make the equation balanced.

Some examples of chemical reactions is combustion, rusting, decomposition or fermentation, cooking an egg, photosynthesis, reacting acids and bases together, chemical batteries, digestion, fireworks, paper burning, and more ideas. Chemical changes happen a lot as even atoms are a part of us. Underneath these words are picture examples of chemical changes examples.
