Introduction
People are entitled to certain rights just because they are alive! These rights are not always given to all people around the world. In our upcoming novel study you will be reading about children from different countries including the United States
In this Web Quest, you will be able to research different human rights that will be discussed in our upcoming novel study. You will use this information to create a Google Slide Presentation of the human rights that are most important to kids like you.

Understanding what human rights are and how the affect people around the world will be important in your understanding of your novel.
For the Web Quest, you will be researching humans rights specific to children During your research, you will fill out a research summary sheet over one topic of your choosing to help you consolidate your research. Then you will create a presentation using Google Slides. You can use the videos and links in the Web Quest to help you find pictures and create summaries that you will use for your Google slides. Your presentation will need to include the following slides:
- Introduction slide with title and your name
- Summary slide with a paragraph (4-6 sentences) describing what human rights are and why they are important. Then you will pick your top 3 most important rights. Each right will go on a separate slide with the right, 2-3 sentences why you believe this is one of the most important rights and a picture.
- List of sources (videos and/or website used)
- This will be a total of 6 slides in your presentation (introduction, summary, 3 slides of most important rights, sources)

Day 2 - Friday
Complete your research from Day 1 and fill out the research summary sheet which will be turned in for a formative grade.
Day 3 and 4 - Monday and Tuesday
1. In Schoology, use the google slide show provided to start your slide show.
2. You will need to have 6 slides in your slide show. The first slide is the your name and topic you chose to focus on.
3. Your 2nd slide will be your summary over what human rights are and why they are important.
3. The next three slides will each feature one of your top three rights. You will list the right and 2-3 sentences why it is important and then put a picture.
4. The 6th slides will list your sources (ie the websites that you used to write your summaries).

Grading Rubric
Student must have 6 slides - title, summary, 3 most important rights, sources - 20 points
Summary slide should include a summary that is 4-6 sentences long with correct punctuation - 20 points
3 Most important Rights Slides (must include right, picture and 2-3 sentences why this right is important) - 20 points
Sources slide should have all 3 sources listed correctly. - 20 points
Style Points - These are awarded based on your creativity and effort put into your slides. (hint extra pictures and more information will help style points as well:) - 20 points
