German - Crime Vocabulary

Introduction

You are taking a solo trip to Germany on a train that is full of other people. You are standing near the exit waiting to board. People are pushing and screaming at each other in German. As you arrive at your destination and get off the train, you hear a gunshot and a lifeless body of a man falls at your feet. You are in shock and cannot move. Then suddenly you are arrested by the local police as a suspect in the murder.

Task

You are being taken to the police station and they want to put you on trial. However, everything will be in German, because the translator is not available. Therefore, you will have to write a testimony in which you try to convince the judge that you are innocent and only falsely accused, and in which you describe in detail what happened.

Process

1. Be creative

Imagine the scene and all the details that were not mentioned.

2. Prepare an outline of the testimony.

You can do this in English or German, whichever is more helpful to you.

3. Use the given websites.

4. Write a complete testimonial

You can write it in any form, e.g. in the form of a letter, a short speech or simply in the form of your flow of thoughts - after all, you want to defend yourself!

After you wrote your last statement, you convinced the judge to release you. You should really be proud of yourself, after all, German is not even your native language!
