Introduction
Through this WebQuest, you will explore how language, storytelling, and literature add value to our lives and society. You will be able to identify ways that English Language Arts can broaden your thinking and help you make meaning and relate to other human beings. Through this WebQuest, you will reflect on what you would like to discover about yourself and learn about the world. You will reflect on how you can build your critical thinking skills, creativity, understanding, empathy, and communication skills, and apply them in the real world.
Task
First, you will pair up. Together, you will decide which articles each of you would like to read. Each person must choose 3 articles to read. After reading each article, you will complete a Google doc for annotation notes to share information with your partner. You will later share this information with the class by making a Flipgrid video or Google Slide presentation.
Process
1. Pair up with a peer. 2. Decide which three articles you will each read (total of 6 articles/3 per person). 3. Read each article and complete annotations using the Google Doc provided. 4. Discuss your findings with your partner. 5. Decide if you would like to present your knowledge (as a pair) to the class by making a Flipgrid video or Google Slide presentation. 6. Review the rubric for your chosen presentation format. 7. Create your presentation. 8. Present.
Flipgrid Prompt: Create a Flipgrid to present two main ideas from an article you read (1 main idea per partner = 2 main ideas). Please specify the title of the articles and the authors' names. Each partner will pose a written question to the other, and your partner will give a response. Describe one thing you learned from the WebQuest.
Google Slides Instructions: Create a 4 slide presentation. Include the title of your presentation and your names on the first slide. Slide 2 - present two main ideas from an article you read (1 main idea per partner = 2 main ideas). Please include the title of the articles and the authors' names. Slide 3 - Type two questions you asked about one article you read (1 question per partner = 2 questions). Each partner type a response to each question. Slide 4 - Describe what you learned.
