This web quest is geared to help kindergarten children learn “Cl” blend in a fun and interactive way. A consonant blend occurs when you have two or more letters appearing together and you hear each sound that each consonant make.

Task

 

Task

The students will be going on a web quest. Students will be able to review “Cl” blend. Children will continue to enjoy playing games and identifying “Cl” blend. This web quest should be completed with very little teacher assistance. This web quest will be done in groups.

Process

I have placed some internet websites to help the child to learn “Cl” consonant blend. These sites have been placed for easy access. This will help the student to move through the process of web quest.

Next you will play a  game " CL  Clap" children will sit in a circle and the teacher will say a number of words that begin with Cl and non CL sounds. For example, Clock, ship, clap, cake, clown, road, chair, clear, school, cloud, click, and clean. Any word begin with CL sound the children will clap their hands. If they clap their hands when they hear a word that does not say the CL sound and they clap their hands , they will be out of the game. " that is they will sit with their back towards the circle"

 

 

 

 

 

Evaluation

Approximately 85% of the students grasped the CL   concept as a result the teacher will review consonant blends and give examples of consonant blends and  this will be done  by replaying the video on Cl blend.

 

Conclusion

Conclusion: In conclusion, consonant blends are two or more consonant letters that keep their own sounds when blended together. Students were able to identify and sort words beginning with “Cl” blends.

Age: 5 years old

Content: Clocks are used to time games; the word clock begins with the “Cl” sound

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

  1. Listen to “Cl” sound in the beginning of words.
  2. Recognize words with the beginning “Cl” blend.
  3. Practice writing and reading words with “Cl” blends.

Materials: Flash cards, charts, pictures, computer.

Introductory Activity: A Song: They all say “Cl”

Developmental steps:

  1. Students will be introduced to the lesson by watching the video on consonant blends.
  2. After watching the video, students will be asked to produce words with “Cl” blend.
  3. Words will be written on the board for children to learn to spell.
  4. Students will work in groups to find words with the beginning “Cl” blend.
