INVENTING CARTOON CHARACTER USING FREE HAND DRAWING

Introduction

   OBJECTIVE: Invent own character to entertain, express opinions and ideas, etc.

In cartoon character making the cartoonist must incorporate several points such as expression physical type decorative details.

 

BASICS OF CREATING A CARTOON CHARACTER

 

PHYSICAL FEATURES- draw them with realistic but exaggerated qualities to give them personal style and traits.

 

FACIAL CHARACTER- like human face, we take in a cartoonist face for clues about identity, personality, and mood.

 

FACIAL EXPRESSION- the point of a cartoon is often made through the facial expression, so your depiction of an inner feeling will need to be exaggerated.

 

HANDS- expressive character. It convey the feelings of enjoyment, anger, or fright.

 

FEET- including footwear, are important features of a cartoon characterization. Different kinds of footwear are very expressive of age, type and profession.

 

Task

ACTIVITY:

STEP1: INVENT YOUR OWN CARTOON CHARACTER TO ENTERTAIN, EXPRESS OPINIONS, IDEAS , ETC 

STEP2: EVALUATE OR RATE YOUR OWN WORK.

Process

Materials: Pencils, Oslo paper, crayons, felt tip pens or marker 

Invent your own character by fitting different pieces together. You are a creator, anything is possible!

  Procedure:

  1. YOu may use  the Manual ( Invent Your Own Character) showing prepared sample cartoon noses, eyes, ears separated by category for reference .https://www.pinterest.ph/pin/538391330436057220/

2.Try out a body ( dress, hairstyles, hands,feet and accouterments) and several mouth, nose, and eye shapes until you find a combination that you have on mind or like.

3. Sketch what you have selected to mix and match. Complete your cartoon character.

4. Finalize the details of your cartoon character. Make a clear outline by using a sharp marker to trace over the lines carefully.

Evaluation

Use the rubrics below as your guide in evaluating your work. Check the numbers that corresponds to your answer.

Conclusion

We conclude that we can invent with our own character based our expression, physically type and decorative details. And also to entertain, express opinions and ideas.
